The Haemokinesis stand at the ISBT 2019 meeting in Basel, Switzerland was once again very popular. There were many more visitors than previous years and several of our distributors assisted on the trade display by being able to translate for customers as we demonstrated the features of our products.
A common question was what is the link between the super-car Lamborghini and our company? We have the fastest Gel tests in Status1 for emergency forward and reverse grouping and StarGel10 being a 10 minute antibody screen and the Lamborghini Aventador is a very fast car. Furthermore the design team at Automobili Lamborghini assisted in the design and engineering of our centrifuges, incubator and reader.
As Haemokinesis Australia acquired DAY Medical in October 2018 visitors also saw the new System S Blood Group serology analyser creating a hybrid version of the original DAYmate S by combining DAYmate S and Haemokinesis StarGel10 and Status1 technology. System S is able to provide a rapid blood group and screen result in less than 15 minutes. Using one of the 4 in-built centrifuges it loads the gel and antisera in-situ in real time so there is no time wasted in physically moving cards around inside the analyser. Loading, incubation, centrifugation and reading with interpretation all occurs in the same centrifuge position allowing up to 200 tests per hour to be performed. Advanced facial recognition technology security login is the first step to a user friendly GUI that is easy for staff to use.
Also on display was GLIF - Group Legible Immunohaematology Format - our Australian made and designed bio-active paper based rapid self-interpreting blood grouping card. With no requirement for power, water or immunohaematology interpretive skills GLIF is being promoted initially as a point-of-care kit for pre-donation screening purposes. There are a number of sites world-wide currently using it and further early adopters are evaluating its suitability for field ABO testing.
